The Matlab license servers at the Computing Centre were upgraded to version R2009b on Wednesday, 20 January at 13:00.

Confickr worm/virus spreading at the VUB

The Confickr worm is spreading to computers at the VUB, in particular on computers belonging to students. It results in reduced network access to parts of the network and delays due to DNS flooding.

Make sure your anti-virus is up-to-date with the latest virus info and make sure your Windows is also up-to-date (Confickr distributes by a bug in Windows using "Windows shares" which was in the meantime fixed). See the link below for more details about Confickr.

Problems with network access in the student rooms on Campus Etterbeek are caused by several infected computers. Students having a room at the VUB can download McAfee to protect their computers if they don't have an anti-virus program installed.


Connectivity problems solved

A workaround on the central firewall has re-enabled normal network access to VUB/ULB servers from outside the VUB/ULB domain. A permanent fix has been applied in the meantime.


HYDRA unavailable on Tuesday 22 December

The HYDRA cluster was unavailable for maintenance on Tuesday, 22 December from 09:00 until 12:00 . All batch jobs will resume after restart.
